Honore Daumiere said "photography describes everything and explains nothing".

Although I know you cannot expect people to fully understand your work- that different people bring different ideas according to their knowledge and experiences- photography lets me express myself, and my views and feelings. It describes what and how I see, yet does not explain the context which may be consciously or unconsciously applied. Since I started taking photographs I have fought with mysef over how to approach a subject, and even what subject to approach. Often I would find that my mind got too much in the way of my photography. I am not saying that photography is an unconscious effort, but rather that my mind was so conscious of everything that I overthought possibilities and ideas, rather than taking photographs and developing my ideas from that. However I am now at a stage where I find mysef photographing as much as I can of things which I want to photograph rather than things I think I ought to photograph. I find I am happier working this way, even if the results arent overly impressive the majority of the time. At least in getting only a few worthy prints from many rolls of film I am still learning and expanding my knowlege of mysef as a photographer.
